Trying to become friends with someone.....Advice?

I would like to become friends with someone, but I have no idea how to make it happen. I have never formally met this person, though I have seen her around on campus, and I'm not friends with any of the people that she is friends with. I really want to be friends with her because she seems like a nice, fun person, but I don't know how to meet her and start to hang out with her. I friended her on facebook, but I feel like if I just say hey the conversation will eventually fizzle out and I will have gotten nowhere. I was going to send her a message, but I have no idea what I could say that wouldn't sound weird. Any advice?Trying to become friends with someone.....Advice?

I think you should start by giving whatever you want the girl to give to you. Dont get me wrong man am not talking about physical gift am talking about emotional gift.Come on man always give her a smile whenever you see her coming. The rule can never be broken ';First Give whatever you want in return'; When you get her smiling back, you can now extend it a little by giving her Genuine and Sincere complement whenever you see her Goodluck man
If you have any classes w/ her, try sitting next to her. Just walk up and sit down. Dont ask or it'd be weird...but sit by her and just say hi, smile, and see if a convo turns up. If not, you obviously have a similar interest since your taking the same class, try talking about something to do w/ the class. It's a good, neutral way to spark her interest in you
Say something like hey you seem nice and go from there I do it all the time with people i want to talk to. and not yet has someone told me to get lost just keep talking to her and once you get to know her better ask her if she wants to hang out or something.
Just be cool about it. Ask her what's her name is and things she like to do in her free time. Most little conversations will turn into bigs ones. Don't be afraid to ask her to hang out some time.
you dont say ';can we be friends.'; Cause then you look like you have no friends. Ask her if you wanna go to the movies.
