How do I increase the space available for friends in DW6 Empires?

I currently have 3 friends, and when i become friends with someone new, it says to dismiss one friend. how do I keep more friends?How do I increase the space available for friends in DW6 Empires?
I came across that same issue myself. And even though there are those spaces on the bottom, you pretty much have to choose between either your new friend, or one of your old ones. You can only have three unless you become a ruler, in which case its still just three friends but you get to have officers under you. I suggest just picking the strongest new ones to replace your oldest pre-existing friends.
